Richard Register’s Attendence at the Tenth IGEBC

The 10th International Conference on Green and Energy-Efficient Building & New Technologies and Products Expo(IGEBC) was held at Beijing International Convention Center(BICC) on March 28-30, 2014 with a theme as“Popularizing Green Building, Promoting Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction”. Based on the latest development of Green and Energy-Efficient Building at home and abroad, the Expo mainly included the opening ceremony, the integrated forum, and 31 sub forums.

At the integrated form on 28th March, the Expo invited Richard Register to give a speech titled 

With a theme as green, low-carbon and harmony, Richard Register aimed to explore another supporting point from the perspectives of ecology and the ecological construction of urban human settlement. He emphasized the development concept of ecological protection, full use of current conditions to seek the balance between human and nature, which can be the core idea of ecocity new town.

Richard Register, pioneer of internationally modern ecocity drive, coined the word “Ecocity” in 1979 and then published many books on ecocity, such as, and etc.  In his book“Ecocities: Rebuilding Cities in Balance with Nature”, he advocated three standards for ecocity: life, beauty and fairness.
